Hello! In this Groundhog Day themed read aloud, we will talk about winter, spring, hibernation, and why groundhogs are so popular on February 2. We will read Grumpy Groundhog by Maureen Wright and complete the following: -Review and discuss hibernation, groundhogs, and the four seasons. -Each student will predict what the story will be about. -As the story is read aloud, we will stop and discuss what is happening in the story. -We will summarize the story and students will have a chance...
Students will build attention and listening skills. Students will have fun reading a fiction story about Groundhog Day. Students will discuss and use words such as hibernation, prediction, winter, spring, and groundhog. Students will have an opportunity to think creatively about Groundhog Day.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
