Welcome to The Grouchy Cat Piano Class! =^..^= In class, older beginners hang out with a Grouchy Cat (in a funny video or live with me), and are introduced to piano playing! Students learn how to sit at the piano correctly, use correct hand position, practice using piano finger numbers on and off the keyboard, and take turns playing some simple melodies that reflect the sound of wind chimes. I will model the tasks for my students and then students will get a turn individually to practice the concept. My goal as a teacher is to make learning fun and easy through slides, discussion, and games. This class is designed for those students who have no prior experience with playing the piano. Upon completion of this one time course, students can continue their studies in my upcoming piano course using the same text book. Learning Goals

🎓 Mrs. Reece’s Experience:
Mrs. Erin Reece is currently a private music instructor who graduated from The Biola Conservatory of Music in 2013. She studied under Dr. William Lock, and Dr. Jeanne Robison. She has been seen on Biola’s stage as Aunt Cecilia in Little Women (2013), Madame de Croissy in Dialogues of the Carmelites (2012), and Cinderella’s Mother in Into the Woods (2011). She was also a soloist in the Honors Concerto Concert, with the Biola Symphony Orchestra.
Erin has also served as the Music Director at both, Christian Academy in 2017 and 2018, as well as MaeMae Elementary School in Hawaii from 2015 to 2018. She taught music theory, piano, and vocal concepts to over 900 students weekly (PreK through 12th grade) and prepared music lessons for 45 minute classes daily. Mrs. Reece also prepared the entire student body at each school for several Song Festivals and May Day (end of the year) performances.
Mrs. Reece has not only taught music at these establishments but also given private group piano and voice lessons for many years.
Her group piano lessons are designed to build a firm foundation for aspiring beginning pianists (Kindergarten to 6th grade). During piano class, students learn from the Faber and Faber piano curriculum. This includes all the fundamentals of piano playing: Music grand staff, clefs, note values, note names, finger numbers, songs, dynamics, and hand and body positioning.
Erins group voice lessons are for young vocalists and are designed to help them find their voice and develop correct vocal techniques.
