Calling all robots and robot lovers! In this class, we'll go on a dance journey with Mikey and his best friend Digit the robot. We will start the class with a meet and greet and a time-in. The time-in is a moment for everyone to bring their attention and focus to our class by stretching and breathing together. After our introduction and stretch, we'll sit for storytime. We'll be reading the new book, "My Robot Taught Me How to Dance." After storytime, we'll warm up for our dance class. In the dance portion of the class, students will learn basic breakdance and hip-hop moves. These moves will directly coincide with the story. Our learning goals will be focused on body awareness, coordination, and most importantly fun. There's an overall robot theme, so any items with that in mind are also welcomed but not required. My teaching style is to use short activities in rotation to keep the children engaged. I try my best to read the students' energy levels and responses to decide if a particular activity is suitable for them at the moment. The bulk of the dance class will be learning different dance moves and performing them in rotation. At the end of the class, we'll have a freestyle dance party and a short chat while we doodle scenes from the story. During most of the class, students will be muted. This helps with the sound quality and for the video to always be on the teacher so everyone can view the steps at all times. At the beginning and the end of class, learners are encouraged to chat with me and their new friends. There are no requirements or previous experience needed for this class.
