Projects

1-2 hours per week. It will be the student’s responsibility to follow along with the lesson videos and complete the projects on their own time. There will be no formal assessments. However, the teacher will always be happy to provide feedback upon request.

Certificate of Completion

Upon request the teacher can send an image of a certificate stating that the learner completed all of the Procreate projects. Send the teacher a message request along with images of all of the completed projects and she will send an image of the certificate of completion.

Class Experience

Learn some groovy beginner skills creating digital art using the Procreate iPad app! Follow along with my pre-recorded tutorial videos to learn the basics, master the QuickShape tool, make your own stamp brushes, and create 4 retro inspired poster projects!

💡 To start, we'll go over some basic Procreate app skills, look at some retro inspiration images, and create a Wavy Warmup project.

✍️ Then we will learn how to use the QuickShape function in Procreate to make graphic shapes and learn how to create and save our own Procreate stamp brushes.

✨ Last, you’ll use the new stamp brushes you made to create a retro inspired Lightning Bolt poster, Smiley Face poster, and Patchwork poster.

~ WHO IS THIS CLASS FOR? ~
This class is open to any age and level looking to learn more beginner friendly Procreate app skills. If you are new to using the Procreate app, consider also enrolling in my "Intro to Procreate for Beginners" Self-Paced class to learn even more beginner techniques and tools.

~ WHAT TO EXPECT ~
This is a Self-Paced course. This means that there are no live class meetings. Students will learn through pre-recorded lesson videos and work through the lessons on their own time. This means that learners will be able to pause, re-watch, and create their artwork at their own pace. Learners can post any questions that might come up in the classroom posts or message me (the teacher) directly.

Learning Goals

Feel more comfortable using basic Procreate skills like staying organized, creating new projects, using Brushes & Erasers, selecting colors, creating new color palettes, using Layers, using the Selection & Transform tools, & exporting your finished work.

Practice using the QuickShape function in Procreate to create graphic, geometric shapes. Learn how to create perfect circles, crisp straight lines and angles, symmetrical shapes, and more!

Unit 1: Warming Up

Lesson 1:

Course Goals, Support, & Feedback

 Review a breakdown of the upcoming lessons and overall goals of the course. + Learn how to receive support and share your artwork with your peers.

Lesson 2:

Procreate App Basics

 Learn the absolute basics you need to know to get started drawing in the Procreate app: Learn how to stay organized, create new projects, and use basic tools. (This is also a great refresher lesson if you have used the app previously but would like a review of the basics.)

Lesson 3:

Download the Class Resources

 Learn how to download the Class Procreate Brushes, Color Palettes, Inspiration Images, Shape Practice Worksheets, and Procreate App Cheat Sheet.

Lesson 4:

Get Inspired!

 We'll look at some inspiration images we can use to create our retro inspired stamp projects.

Parental Guidance

PROCREATE: We will be creating digital art on the Procreate app for iPads during class. This is a third-party app that will need to be downloaded onto the learner's iPad device. You will not need to create an account to use this app. All of your Procreate data is tied to your iPad and your Apple ID. YOUTUBE: My lesson videos will be uploaded and shared in the Outschool classroom as a YouTube link. However, Outschool will automatically embed the link so that learners remain on the Outschool platform and don’t access the YouTube website. PADLET: Learners will be encouraged to post their artwork to our "Procreate Digital Art Showcase" hosted on Padlet.com! Think of it like a collaborative art gallery where students can show off their work and encourage their peers. Through frequent moderation, I will ensure it remains a safe and encouraging space. Learners can post anonymously without an account. However, I recommend that you create an account so that others know whose artwork is being posted and so that you can be notified of any post comments.

Pre-Requisites

If you are brand new to the Procreate app and would like to learn some basic skills before enrolling in this course, I recommend checking out my "Intro to Procreate for Beginners" class first.

Supply List

✔️ iPad: The Procreate app is currently only available on the iPad.
✔️ Up to date Procreate app: This is $12.99 in the App Store, but well worth the investment.
✔️ Apple Pencil: I HIGHLY recommend using an Apple Pencil for best results and pressure sensitivity when drawing.
