Class Experience

This class is taught in English.
- increase body awareness through prompts for self reflection (ex. what thoughts come up for you as we repeat this exercise?  does boredom arise, curiosity, frustration?  This is a lovely learning opportunity to notice thoughts, without judgement.)

- increase strength & mobility through circuit-based physical exercises (ex. squats, bridges, jumping jacks, and more!)

- balance practice (we will practice single-leg exercises that promote wobbles, and give us the opportunity to practice maintaining balance, posture & core-strength) 

- connection to others during exercise (working out virtually together provides a place to grow with one another in a non-competitive environment)

- an opportunity to explore joyful movement & enjoyable exercise (Anna encourages students to learn about their bodies without judgement of self, or others, and to focus on building a sustainable, enjoyable connection with movement & exercise... in whatever body-circumstances students may currently be living)

There is no homework!

If a student would like a simple circuit-based routine to practice until the next class, Anna is more than happy to provide a routine for optional homework based on what we learned in class.
- mat or towel 
- water
- shoes if that provides more comfort for your feet during exercise than socks or bare feet
- a relatively distraction-free space where you feel comfortable to get a little silly and sweat
- space to move, sweat, jump & make some noise
- comfort clothes (whatever that means to you - sweats, exercise clothes, your favorite color outfit...etc.)
- completely optional: an object, stuffed animal, photo, image, or collage that represents internal or external strength to you
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
No assessments.  There will be opportunity for self-reflection during our class.  

Anna encourages students to be an active witness to their own growth over time, and notice what has shifted over time, and what has remained the same.  She is attentive to each student's participation & involvement in class.  

Anna can provide constructive feedback to students as an informal written assessment if requested by the student, after they get to know each other a bit more with a few classes of student participation.
35 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.

As with any exercise program or class, there are risks involved in the workouts Anna is offering.  We will be moving, jumping, squatting, and much more.  This program requires physical exertion that may be strenuous at times and may cause physical injury.  While student safety & an injury-free class is of upmost importance to Anna, she cannot insure your student will not get injured & cannot assume responsibility for any student injuries or soreness. 

Please make an informed decision about whether this class is a good fit for your learner's current physical capabilities & health.  
As with any exercise program, if you have any doubts about whether this class is right for your child,  please consult a knowledgable physician prior to beginning this class.  

Lastly, in order to reduce risk of injury or illness, please oversee that your child has adequate nourishment, water, comfortable clothing, and space to move, jump, & sweat in a safe, distraction-free area.
