Train your brain and find your voice in this fast and fun one time class! We’ll explore some of the quirks about how we communicate, identifying our growth points and the power of YET! Students will self-identify areas of strengths and weaknesses in public speaking. Students will practice techniques to slow down their speaking, removing filler language as a means of being more succinct and direct. This is meant to serve as a self-contained lesson focused on growth mindset and the power of yet.
Ms. Alex has a teacher’s heart and believes in putting the FUN in fundamental skills. Having worked in the field of education for over a decade, she is a proud Outschool teacher, offering virtual learning experiences to students around the world. When not wearing her teaching cap, Alex is a curriculum creator and education consultant, working with others to improve the future of education. Alex is honored to have taught hundreds of students, with her original curriculum reaching thousands more!
An optional one page handout will be provided in print and digital formats, available to any student who may want to jot down a few notes!
50 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
In sections with 4+ learners, this class will utilize breakout rooms in order to maximize every student's time spent speaking. Students will be randomly assigned to groups of 2-3 for up to 6 minutes at a time. Breakout room activity will be guided by a screen shared presentation.
This class utilizes games from the Ultraspeaking platform (used with express permission). All gameplay will be controlled by the teacher; at no time will students have control of or access to Ultraspeaking games. Students will not be directed outside of the Outschool platform at any time before, during, or after class.
