What's included

1 live meeting
30 mins in-class hours per week
Homework
They can time themselves and complete the grid as often as they want. Then they will visually see their progress or improvement by graphing their results of time taken over the number of times they did the grid. This can be done in a possible Part 3 after this series of classes. Students will need to print the grid out for at least 4 weeks as consistent repetition is needed to memorize the times tables.
Assessment
Their progress is assessed by how much easier and faster it gets for them to do the grid each time all the way to 12 times tables.

Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 5
Each week students will practice and eventually master their multiplication tables using a grid that they will begin with me and complete the rest on their own if they don't finish in class. They have an option of using their own timers if they wish to time it. The more they do the grid, the more they will notice how much faster and easier they are learning their times tables.

They will learn tricks/shortcuts to remember the timetables using their visual, auditory and kinaesthetic channels. I will teach them basic math strategies including skip counting, adding doubles, using mnemonics and more. They will learn short cuts to do the 4X, 6X, 7X, 8X and 12X tables which are the hardest to memorize. I apply the principles of growth mind set over a fixed mind set when doing their math. They will feel supported and comfortable at each step, when they are relaxed and enjoying, they learn fastest.

They may choose to do the zeros, ones, twos, fives, tens and 11s on their own or ahead of time. I will show them different ways to calculate the 9 times tables and how to figure out the remaining using addition shortcuts. If time permits or for those who complete earlier, I can suggest how to graph their timed math grid results.

It is highly recommended they first take the, " Learn and Practice Multiplication Tables Class" as the focus of this class is practice and not learn any concepts of multiplication. They should already know what is multiplication if they are taking this class.

Fun rewards in the form of edibles such as popcorn or Smarties/M&Ms to eat as they complete each column/row is highly encouraged. A total of 24 edibles will be needed if they complete the whole grid during class. They can also use non edible rewards as long as they have up to 24 small trinkets/items with them to earn. If they don't want to use a print out of the grid provided, they can simply annotate on the screen or call out their answers for me to annotate for them. Its amazing how fast they will memorize their times tables within a few weeks!

Learning Goals

Students will be able to complete the grid on their own after class. They will learn the multiplication tables using the grid to practice with.
