Class Experience

In this class we will look at the artwork of artist Chuck Close who does portrait paintings using a grid method. He paints giant paintings one square of the grid at a time and when all of the grids come together they form a picture.

After discussing the work of Chuck Close we will begin creating a painting in Procreate using the grid painting technique. A demonstration will occur explaining how to get a photograph into Procreate, how to use layers for the painting, and most importantly how to use the grid tool in Procreate.

Students will need a photograph loaded on the iPad to use in class. The subject can be pets, animals, people, cars, etc.

This is an involved project that might need some time outside of class to finish the painting.

Please note: an iPad with Procreate is needed for this class. Procreate does not require an account and can be found by searching for Procreate in the App Store.
