Gregor the Overlander Book Review
In this 8 week course we will read and analyze "Gregor the Overlander" by Suzanne Collins. This course is designed to get students excited about reading. This course will help your leaner understand what they have read.

2-4 hours per week. Students will need to come prepared to discuss that days readings. Students will need to follow the reading guide to help them think about what they have read and be prepared for the group discussion. This will act as notes for students to reference when discussing the book with the group and will not be formally graded unless specifically requested. The amount of time spent on the assignments outside of class is dependent on the speed of your reader. In order to get through the whole book in the given time 3-4 chapters will be assigned per week. However students may use audio version of the book if needed.Progress Report
This course is to help facilitate students reading and engage them in a text. Students will be assessed on their understanding of the book through discussion with peers and the teacher. Students will be encouraged to think about their answers and reference the text when making claims. There will be one quiz in this course and all other assessments will be informal.Class Experience

Beginner - Intermediate Level
This is a book club style class in order to help engage young learners in reading. We will discuss how this text uses different literary devices within the story. We will look at how the author develops the characters throughout our reading. Discussing different important points within the story. Students will also learn how to hold discussion with others and respectful disagree. This will be a round table style class where students are expected to come to class prepared and ready to discuss the past readings. I will moderate the conversation and pose questions to the group to think on and discuss.

Learning Needs
This is a good class for students who struggle with reading, helping learners recognize important parts of literature in a low stakes environment. Audio versions of the book can be used instead of text in order to accommodate all learners.
Parental Guidance
This book is an adventure book and has some fighting scenes, this book was written for middle schoolers and might be advanced for younger readers.
