In this ongoing club, students will learn about gardening and build interdisciplinary knowledge while developing social skills.
Class experience
The first 20 minutes of class will be spent learning about a new topic pertaining to gardening. The remainder of the class time will be for sharing gardening projects the students are working on, asking for advice from me the instructor, and peer input. Sharing knowledge will be greatly encouraged! Topics covered will include (but not be limited to): -Plant life cycles -Water cycle -Seasons -Weather vs Climate -Ecosystems -Nutrition -Photosynthesis -Sustainability -Farming/gardening through...
My hope above all is that students take away a love for the plant world around them.
I have been growing 5 raised garden beds over the past 5 years as well as keeping several indoor plants. I absolutely love plants and gardening and can't wait to share my passion with young learners!
Students will need to purchase gardening supplies that fit their living environment. This can be a plant to sit on a window ledge, or a full raised bed planter with seeds and soaker hoses. Whatever works for each individual child and family unit to experience growing plants works for me!
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Parent help with creating an area to garden and using tools such as, but not limited to, a rake, gardening shovel, gardening shears, etc might be best with parental assistance and/or supervision.
