#academic In this chatty and funny ongoing class, we will share a new story from Ancient Greece each week. Serious intellectual silliness - myths, history and literature.

Class Experience

US Grade 3 - 6
This class is taught in English.
You are going to learn a whole lot of stories about Ancient Greece: this includes myths, legends, stories of heroes and war, and also the stories of the gods and goddesses.

You will get lots of chances to share your own stories and facts, and to learn with each other in the class too.

We will focus on how to be an engaging storyteller and how to use Ancient Greek tales to help our thinking. This is a class to build your confidence and friendships, just as much as your speaking and Greek knowledge.

We will have a lot of fun in class with all these weird stories.
I have ten years of experience as a primary school teacher in East London, and am currently working as a specialist English teacher in my own education consultancy. I teach poetry, classics, creative writing and public speaking, and am skilled at supporting children to talk openly, think deeply, and feel comfortable in their learning communities.

I am currently studying Greek Mythology at the University of Oxford, with the Oxford School of Continuing Education
None, but you are always welcome to share the stories of Greek Myths that you have been reading.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
The Ancient Greek stories are often violent. I am an experienced primary teacher, and tell them in a way that is appropriate, at a level similar to that found in children's literature. I make it quite cartoonish where I can, and avoid stories that are too mature in their content.
Where children's curiosity leads them to ask questions that other children may find uncomfortable, I am able confident that I can respond sensitively.
We do not use one specific book - all stories are my own original reinterpretations, based on my own reading and research.
