In this class we will read the myth about Daedalus and Icarus who flew to their freedom on wings made by the master inventor Daedalus. We will learn about the geography of the two Greek islands linked to this story Crete and Ikaria.

Class Experience
In this class we will read the myth about Daedalus and Icarus who flew to their freedom on wings made by the master inventor Daedalus. Daedalus had been imprisoned by King Minos of Crete after constructing the labyrinth to house the monstrous Minotaur. We will learn about the geography of the Greek island Crete including its location, climate, wildlife, natural and man-made wonders and we will also learn about the island of Ikaria (home to one of the largest populations of centenarians in the...
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
