Class experience
US Grade 3 - 6
When a student takes this class, they can expect a fun and interactive journey through the origin and youth of Hercules. Class will first begin with a short meet-and-greet. Once acquainted, we will delve into a dramatic telling of some of Hercules' exploits as a child. Images and some video will be shared to help bring the story to life and as the storyteller, my goal will be to use my theatrical and voice-artist background to make the tale memorable. Throughout, students will be...
Students will learn about Hercules, Zeus, and Hera with a focus on Hercules. They will learn new vocabulary like: Pantheon, lyre, chariot, and serpent; all with visual prompts and cues. Students will have the opportunity to draw, speak, and question with a focus on comprehension skills and critical thinking.
I've been teaching the Labors of Hercules story to learners in China for several years now and it remains a favorite of many of my students. I have performed Euripides (Medea) on stage in the past and am currently a voice over actor, so my storytelling is quite practiced. Ultimately, I've a great passion for Greek Literature and aspire to inspire this passion to ignite in the hearts of others.
