Class Experience

US Grade 3 - 6
In this one-time, 45 minute class, learners will be exposed to the life of Heracles from Ancient Greek Mythology. We will explore his entire life including who his parents were, his childhood, and his adult life before focusing on the events that changed his life. After his family was killed, Heracles was punished with the 12 Trials or the 12 Labors. This class will dive into all 12 tasks, specifically focusing on what and who was involved in each one. This class is a story-telling format with photos and statues on slides helping to illustrate the story. No prior knowledge of Greek Mythology is necessary, but always fun. As we go along, learners are encouraged to share questions and information they may have about Heracles.
Learning Goals
Learners will know more about the Ancient Greek Mythological figure Heracles.

Other Details

Parental Guidance
We will discuss the idea of Greek gods and goddesses in a mythical, fictional sense. There will be mention of babies, marriage, and infidelity (explained to students as unfaithfulness to a married partner by having other girlfriends or boyfriends). We will talk about war, killing, and battles, but we will not go into bloody details. Many statues portraying Greek mythological figures are nude, but the images will be cropped to preserve modesty in this class.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
