In Greek mythology the Underworld is a place of mystery. There are many different levels where the dead exist in different ways. Hades rules this place and if entered it is difficult to get out. In this course we will study the Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice. Here true love is cut short when Orpheus loses the love of his life and so he must travel to the mysterious Underworld in order to attempt a rescue. Understanding the story and meaning written by ancient Greek writers about their view of the world as an ancient civilization. Art History principles such as line, form, artistic techniques and Iconography, the meaning behind the artwork, will be among the goals of this class for each student.
I have six years of experience teaching Art History, Art Appreciation and Humanities at the college level.
Pen and paper if desired for notes.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
A written report will be provided at the end of the course.
