Week 1Lesson 1Unit 1: An Introduction To Greek Mythology and the Gods and GoddessesWe will view video clips and discuss Myths, Gods and Goddesses in the classroom forum. They will read excerpts of the myths and check out information on the Gods and Goddesses. Students will complete activities such as word searches and games about the myths.Week 2Lesson 2Unit 2: Greek Creatures and MonstersWe will view video clips and discuss the Creatures and Monsters in the classroom forum. They will read excerpts about the Creatures and Monsters and check out information on the Creatures and Monsters. Students will complete activities such as word searches and games about the myths. They will also work on creating a Big Galoot (Monster or Creatures) Information Sheet and share with the class.Week 3Lesson 3Unit 3: Demigods and Exceptional MortalsWe will view video clips and discuss the Demigods and Exceptional Mortals in the classroom forum. They will read excerpts about the Demigods and Exceptional Mortals and check out information on them. Students will complete activities such as word searches and games about the myths and Demigods and Exceptional Mortals.Week 4Lesson 4Unit 4: Student ChoiceStudents will choose and research their favorite myths and then create a PowerPoint where they share information with the class in the forum.Week 5Lesson 5Wrap up: Favorite Myths Allusions In Society.Students will complete a webquest connecting myths to society.

I am offering this class as it is a fun and engaging way of looking at Greek classic literature, including mythology! As a 7-12th grade English certified teacher I have experience with using mythology, fairy tales, fables and folk tales to introduce concepts of reading comprehension and literary analysis.
Homework Offered
Each week students will receive a reading, comprehension and extension activity. We do many STEM activities, however they are optional!1 - 2 hours per week outside of class
