This fun, and highly interactive class includes information being shared about some of the main Greek gods including: Zeus, Hera, Artemis, Apollo, Hades, Aphrodite, Ares, and Athena. Did you know that Zeus is the father to many of the other Greek gods? Have you heard the story of how Hades abducted Persephone? Learn about each of these characters, and then play a game of BINGO with each of the main Greek gods in the game. When I was in school I really enjoyed Honors European history, and Greek mythology. I will use the stories of the Iliad to create this class, and teach it through Google slides, and discussion. The characters in mythology from Homer's writing will be introduced, as well as a brief outline of a story about that character. After the information has been taught we will play a fun game of Greek mythology BINGO. The squares on the game will be clues so the learners will have their knowledge tested in order to win the game!
Learning Goals
Students will be a general overview of Green mythology while having fun with others students.
Other Details
Parental Guidance
The Greek mythology that I teach will be taught in a historical, and secular manner based on classic literature. Some Greek mythology includes violence, and sexual content. I will not include anything not appropriate for children in this course, however, if they study more on their own, it may be discovered.
Supply List
There will be a BINGO card that is sent out through the classroom that must be printed out before the meeting. Please check in on the classroom with enough time to print this for your child. Students can use pennies, or other markers to place on their BINGO card.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Teacher expertise and credentials
In high school, I was in Honors European history where I learned a lot about Greek mythology. I read Homer's books which include Greek mythology for fun. Since finishing college, and teaching my own children, I have also learned how to better read books, and discuss them with learners. I will use all of this knowledge to teach this class in a fun, and secular manner.
