Class Experience

US Grade 3 - 6
Adding a prefix to a root can change the meaning of the word significantly or just slightly. Taking a look at how these prefixes interact with various roots will help learners build vocabulary. Each class will begin with a prefix introduction. We will brainstorm some words we already know using the prefix of the day. Next, we will use Kahoot to to look at some words and definitions using the focus prefix. Finally, we will play a review game on gimkit to continue practicing the words.

Hi, I specialize in teaching reading. It is my passion to introduce students to books and develop a love for reading in kids of all ages. I have a masters degree in education from Columbia University's Teachers College and a special education certificate in special education from Brooklyn College in New York City. I have worked as a peer tutor, as a test prep tutor, and as an Orton-Gillingham tutor, helping students overcome various reading difficulties to achieve their goals. I also worked as a reading teacher and a special education teacher at a title 1 charter school in NYC. I believe that every child has the potential to become an avid reader, we just have to ignite their passion and build their skills in an individualized way. I recently moved from NYC to live near the ocean. My hobbies include going to the beach, traveling, playing tennis, and or course READING!
