Description
Class Experience
Over the course of the 4 weeks, learners will; Learn how to make predictions using clues, Learn how to justify their opinions and predictions, Learn about famous women from history.
I have a PhD in history and am a qualified primary school teacher in the UK. I have taught history to learners from the age of 3 up to the postgraduate level. My PhD included a significant component of gender studies and I have published academic work on the history of girls and young women. I have taught about gender to children of all ages.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
25 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
At times, we will be talking about prejudice and stereotypes, in particular, about how women have been perceived in the past. I will ensure that this is presented in an age appropriate way by saying that 'in the past, some people thought that women weren't able to do the things that men can do'. Please ensure that you and your learner are comfortable talking about discrimination.
