Description
Class Experience
In this 6 week class, students will learn all about the great women of science. These women made crucial discoveries that changed the world and the way we view science. Each week, we will look at one woman and her discoveries. We will learn about the background of each woman; where they came from, how they became scientists, and what type of education they may have had. Then, we will explore the scientific advances that they had a role in. Through this close look, students will understand not...
Students will learn about important scientific discoveries and be able to outline how they came about and why they are important. Students will be able to identify the female scientists who made these advances as well as how they struggled to work in the scientific field due to their gender.
Each student will be assigned one of the highlighted scientists to do further research on to share throughout our time together. This will be done verbally.
Handouts will be provided as needed before class to be printed and used during class Paper and pen for note taking scissors empty soda bottle vinegar baking soda
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
50 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
