"Great Scott!" is a comprehensively examined and simply explained study of theoretical and movie Time Travel. Week 1: We will be diving into its history as a science fiction writing device, discussing supposed time travelers in history lore, and examining modern mathematical theories. Week 2: Time Travel by way of the Time Machine! We will be cataloging and discussing the different proposed time machines by way of movie magic. How have movies portrayed the Time Machine and Time Travel? Week 3: Time Travel by way of nature... can time travel portals exist in naturally? What are black holes? What is Space Time? Is there a time travel cheat code? Are their ancient stories that propose time travel through natural portals? And are there movies references to illustrate these concepts? Your child does not need to have a working knowledge of theoretical physics or advanced mathematics to attend "Great Scott!", just an imagination and understanding or interest in the unknown. We will have open and whacky discussions, talk movies, and even develop our own concepts of how time travel might have worked in the past or the future.
Learning Goals
The goal of "Great Scott!" is to broaden the understanding of time travel and inspire a deeper look at what is actual, theoretical, and fantastical. Your student will leave with an increased sense of Time wonder, a more confident working knowledge of the universe, and probably a larger pool of movies to reference.!
