Description
Class Experience
Take your guitar on a cinematic journey to a galaxy far, far away, wizarding school, middle earth and beyond! Each week, we'll learn a classic movie theme on the guitar. I've created simplified arrangements in bite-sized pieces, so learners of any level can get a handle on the tunes. This class is learner-directed, so requests to learn specific themes are welcome! We'll start by going over how to read guitar tabs and finger notes clearly. Then we'll take the theme one phrase at a time,...
There will be no homework required, but like any skill, the more you practice, the more you'll get out of what you've learned. My goal is to make the lesson fun and instructive so the student will want to pick up their guitar and play regularly.
A handout will be provided for each theme with the guitar tabs. I'll also send two recordings of me playing the songs, one slower and one at full tempo, to practice along to at home after the class. Students should bring: • A tuned guitar (acoustic or electric guitars are equally welcome and appropriate for this class) • Guitar pick (optional - finger picking is a perfectly good technique) • Guitar strap (optional - students may sit or stand, depending on preference)
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
