Great Black Artists That Made Way for Black Artists Today!
There was a time when African Americans were not allowed in museums. This course will look at artists that help make changes despite all circumstances. With her abstract art and sculptures, artists like Alma Thomas were the first of many.

Description
Class Experience
Students will get to see artists who have to shift the narrative of the Art World; before these artists, art was a single tone, but after, art was used as a tool to express African American struggles, beauty, and diversity. While also keeping a record of the culture for those periods.
Hello, I am an African American Artist with a Master's in Historic Preservation. As a historic preservationist, my job is to preserve and advocate for one's history, culture, built environment, and sense of place. I have studied the history of African American artists because I am an African American Artist. History is part of my expertise, and art is another.
