In this 2 week class students will focus on grayscale drawing in the first class and grayscale painting in the second class. I enjoy working in grayscale and I taught myself as a teen (I still have it.... the apple pictured) *Students need to be within the stated age range this class is aimed at please. In the first class We will talk about the types of pencils and create our own grayscale to practice shading from light to dark. A B grade means the core has more graphite, and will make a bolder, darker line, and also be a little smudgier than a light pencil. An H grade means the core has more clay, and will make a lighter, finer line, and will be less smudgy than a dark pencil We will use our grayscale to draw and shade an apple. In the second class we will paint a grayscale to practice mixing shades of gray then we will use this to paint the landscape pictured. This is a guided drawing and painting class PLEASE see supply list below Note: Please do not use printer/copy paper...children are disappointed when their work is floppy and doesn't hold up to painting. If you are unable to get a watercolor pad then mixed media would be another choice. A drawing paper pad, though not meant for painting could work as the paper is a little sturdier.
