Just West of Weird. Just South of Strange. Just North of Normal. Is a club for young fans of the show Gravity Falls! This discussion group is highly interactive, between students and with the teacher. We'll start the meeting by whistling the theme class (of course)! In the clubhouse, learners will have the opportunity to connect with other fans of the show and discuss themes in Gravity Falls. Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Lark, and I love encouraging young people in their paths of self-discovery.
I've worked with kids in many capacities over the last decade, but I think I like online learning in small groups the very best. I love getting to know about each of my students, and offering them a warm, encouraging place to step out of their comfort zone and make new friends, or to be brave and try something new. Steven Universe is forever my inspiration in life and as a teacher- treating others with kindness and curiosity, while understanding that every person is on their own journey to becoming "something entirely new"!
In 2020, I became a certified children and teen's yoga teacher, and started Brave One Yoga. With everything going on in the world and seeing firsthand how living through all these changes was affecting my students, I knew I wanted to do something more. I wanted to share some of the benefits I've received in my 15 years of yoga practice, and pass on what I've learned about coping with uncertainty.
Every yoga class I offer is strongly focused on social-emotional development and taught from a trauma sensitive and neurodivergent aware lens. I offer my students a place to have fun learning about the practice of yoga and it's many valuable tools that can help them navigate life. I feel so lucky to be a part of this process for students and getting to watch my students learn more about themselves in every class!
Here's some fun facts about me: I am from Colorado. I have traveled to 44 of the 50 United States, 9 countries and 5 continents. I live in the Southern Appalachian mountains- I love hiking, camping, kayaking, swimming in rivers and lakes and hot springs, going caving and trying all the cool outdoor things! I have the best dog in the world: a rescue German Shepard/Staffordshire Terrier mix named Lily. I have a bachelor's degree in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. I love writing, reading books and watching cartoons. Before covid, I was a working musician- I love to play guitar, ukulele and sing! I pivoted to teaching full time in March 2020 and have loved every single day of it!
