In this class, we will dig into the graveyard of forgotten English words, learning about words that were once used regularly in our amazing English language, but have since......passed away, and are no longer even recognized today. We'll hear some pretty amazing entries such as glabrous, swarf, tosticated, and even crapulous (and its very likely that none of these will mean what you think they mean!) We will learn what these words meant, how they were used, and even see if we can spot any elements that still exist in words we know and use today. Join us for a fun and spooky dive into the graveyard of dearly departed words! #halloween
Learning Goals
Students will learn about some words that are now considered dead, but in the process will also get a review into prefixes, suffixes and word meanings that are still used in our vocabulary today.

I love being a teacher and have wanted to be one for as long as I can remember!
I have 22 years of experience teaching elementary school and I hold two Master's degrees; one in Literacy, Curriculum and Instruction, and one in Information and Library Science.
I have been fortunate to have had a number of teaching opportunities at American and International Schools around the world, including China, Singapore, Thailand and Russia, as well as in the United States.
I feel strongly about connecting with students and making them feel comfortable in my classroom. I bring a sense of humor to my teaching that I believe helps me connect with students and keep them engaged.
I am a US citizen currently living in the UK with my English husband, and two children who are in primary school.
