Class Experience

The students will share, discuss, and write examples of what gratitude means to them and its applications in a journal.

The topic focuses on gratitude with the feelings and experiences that occur when people express this idea.

The structure of the class will be discussion and short answer written expression.

There will be an introduction of each other and then the purpose of the class explained that practicing gratitude can help focus on positive in daily life. Once we preview the journal, we'll go through each page. First, the student will write a few sentences about what makes them grateful. Next, the students complete a fill in the blank with more specific direction of things that make them happy. Afterwards, they will share with each other the examples they write and be able to ask questions of each other for discussion. On the last page, the students will answer 4 questions to continue the thought process and actions that can help a person be grateful.

My teaching style is direction instruction with questions and response. In addition, there the journal is a take away that can be revisited by the student later. If students have difficulty writing, writing is optional because I don't want them to be hindered by this and rather focus on the topic. Students may also color in the book while discussion takes place if a focus tool is needed.

The learners will be interacting with me the whole time as we are discussing and writing the answers.

No background experience is required. I will be reading the journal to them if they have any difficulties with reading words.
Learning Goals
Students will have a reminder of things to be grateful for in their lives and also become of aware of what others find grateful in theirs to foster appreciation.

I will be teaching classes that are meaningful to me and I believe helpful to you as the learner!
cursive, social emotional (breathing, calming tools, positive thinking), sensory integration techniques (exercises and activities that promote regulation of body feelings), math skills as well as a focus on multiplication/division facts, sight word skills, parts of speech awareness and usage, using Google Docs for accommodations and distance learning, and courses that parents desire that I feel I can share my knowledge and expertise.

With over 20 years of experience teaching in both public and private schools, I have worked with all ages. I have a degree in Elementary Education and Specific Learning Disabilities. In addition, I have a Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction.

I think children have a desire to learn about many topics. I believe that with direction and support, students are learners of the world around them. They appreciate it when it's something they need to learn and the light bulb shines or when they are able to understand more about an interest he or she has been interested in studying.

I love to travel! My family and I have been to Europe, South America, and the Caribbean as well as many places across the United States. My 5 year old daughter and I play lots of games and enjoy playing jokes on each other. We love animals and watching shows to learn about them.
