This is the perfect class to start from the beginning to the end as it relates to data charts and graphs. We will review how to read and create a wide variety of charts and graphs, including but not limited to bar, line, circle/pie, stem-leaf, histogram, scatterplot, and box-whisker. Learners will understand when the specific graph should be used. For example, when showing: categories, time, correlations, etc. Learners will also practice using major axes, labeling, and other aspects of the graph. Learners can sign up for the sessions that address their specific needs. There is no pre-requisite knowledge required and the classes do not build on each other. Week1 | Topic - Bar Graph and Pictographs. Read and create these two graphs. Week 2 | Topic - Line Graph and Line Plot. Read and create these two graphs. Week 3| Topic - Stem-Leafs and Histographs. Read and create this chart and graph that can be utilized together. Week 4 | Topic - Scatter and Bubble plots. This session will focus on these unique graphs to identify correlations. Week 5 | Topic - Circle (or Pie) Graphs. This session will focus on this highly-used graph. Week 6 | Topic - Box-Whisker. Teacher expertise and credentials
Virginia Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
Hello! My name is Ms. Ann and I have been a teacher for over a decade in the beautiful state of VA. I have taught several grades in both Elementary and Middle School. I love to teach. I think the best part of teaching is sharing my knowledge in a variety of subjects and helping students make connections to previous experiences or existing background knowledge.
I am a certified teacher in all core subjects: math, history, science, and language arts (grades K-8 and gifted education). I believe that successful teaching includes building relationships, interest, and engagement with students. When students are interested in the topic, they are more willing to participate, ask questions, and ultimately master the content.
I hope to see you in class soon!
