This one week course will meet three days a week to discuss and create a graphic novel. Students will learn the basic of writing a graphic novel, discuss the plot diagram, and reference graphic novels to create their own short story graphic novel. The first class students will be introduced to the characteristics of a graphic novel plot and begin brainstorming ideas for their own. The second class students will be read a short expert from a graphic novel and learn how to recognize the qualities of a graphic novel. In the third and final class students will revise their graphic novels and have the opportunity to share. Students will receive homework in-between class which will consist of finding information about graphic novels and working on their own. My teaching style is very relaxed in order for students to feel comfortable and invited. No prior knowledge about graphic novels is needed as we will be introduced in this course.
