Description

Class Experience

Students will improve their writing, reading literacy, comprehension, and understanding of literary elements.
I have over 26 years of combined teaching experience as a certified language arts and drama, public school, and home school teacher.
Students will have reading homework. Graphic novels tend to be a quick read, so depending on each learner's reading speed, students can expect to spend 20-minutes each day or 2-3 hours each week reading outside of class.
A one-page handout on the first session will be provided.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Letter grades and written assessments are available upon request. Students will receive verbal or written feedback on discussions, in-class projects, and submitted assignments.
2 hours 15 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 2 - 4 hours per week outside of class.
We will be using a shared Graphic Novel Boot Camp Google Drive folder to submit completed assignments. Google Drive requires a Gmail account to use the Google Drive App. Students will need to attain a copy of our two class graphic novels: "Roller Girl" and "New Kid." You can purchase these from your favorite local or online bookstore, or see if you can check them out from your local library. All other materials will be provided in printable form on the first day of class.
