Description
Class Experience
Students will design: -a logo for a business of their choice -design a newsletter template -design a social media advertisement -design a video thumbnail -design an invitation for an event
All of our teachers hold Bachelors degrees. The graphic design teacher is a full-time communications director who uses Canva, Adobe, and other software to create digital marketing visuals for his company. Additionally, all of our teachers received 2 hours of professional development on addressing themes related to social-emotional learning led by a licensed Special Education Teacher and Behavior Specialist. Our teachers receive bi-weekly and quarterly professional development to increase their teaching skills.
Students will work independently on their designs between classes in order to present those designs at the next class. Students may work in a group using the classroom posts section of the class to collaborate on ideas and receive feedback from their peers.
There are no supplies necessary for this class. All work will be done through Canva. Students may create a FREE Canva account at www.canva.com
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Students will be assessed informally. The teacher will provide verbal and written feedback for students based upon the designs they create.
40 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
Students will use the Canva software to design digital marketing visuals for different purposes. When creating the YouTube thumbnails and the Facebook/Instagram posts, students will not actually use their work on these platforms. Also, our graphic design teacher will ensure that all visuals are age and content appropriate.
