Informal assessments are optional and available upon request at the midway and end point of the course. If you would like to receive an assessment of a learner's progress, please forward a copy of the projects that they have already completed in a private message to the teacher and they will respond with a short written explanation of what the learner is doing well and where they can improve. The assessment will not include a numerical or number grade.

In this course, participants will delve into entrepreneurial graphic design specifically tailored for business branding on social media platforms. Through a comprehensive approach, learners will conceive and refine a distinctive brand identity while simultaneously honing their expertise in crafting graphics optimized for effective social media engagement.

     IMPORTANT: During this course, we won't directly utilize social media platforms like Instagram or Facebook. Instead, we'll focus on designing content using Canva that can be applied beyond the class setting.

Week 1: 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐚 𝐋𝐨𝐠𝐨 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐝: 

     In the initial phase, participants will commence the branding process by conceptualizing and crafting a definitive logo, an emblematic representation of their brand identity. Simultaneously, they will create a professional business card, aligning with the established visual image to enhance brand recognition and representation. This foundational step aims to establish a cohesive and impactful visual foundation for their brand.

Week 2: 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 𝐅𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚 𝐅𝐥𝐲𝐞𝐫: 

    In this class session participants will delve into crafting visually engaging content by designing strategic Instagram Feed Posts, which serve as integral components for brand storytelling and audience engagement on this prominent social media platform. Additionally, they will create a compelling Flyer, an essential promotional tool that extends the brand's message beyond the digital realm, fostering offline engagement and outreach.

Week 3: 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐚 𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐁𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐫: 

    This class session focuses on creating a captivating Facebook Post to maximize brand visibility and engagement, along with designing a prominent Facebook Banner that serves as a digital storefront for the brand.

Week 4: 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐚 𝐓-𝐒𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚 𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐞 𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐭:

     This class session entails the creation of a branded T-Shirt design, merging fashion with promotional strategy, and developing a compelling Sale Post for promotional campaigns.

Week 5: 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬: 

    In this class session participants will dive into designing Instagram Stories using Canva. They'll discover the tools and techniques within Canva to create visually appealing and impactful Stories that showcase their brand effectively on Instagram.

Week 6: 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐥 𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐬: 

     Finally, week 6 will involve the creation of dynamic and engaging Instagram Carousel Posts, enabling participants to craft visually compelling narratives and drive audience interaction

During this camp we will explore the following Canva features: 
Templates - Canva has thousands of free ready-to-use templates for designs.  I will show learners how to access them but we will create our own designs from scratch.  

Elements - Canva has an extensive selection of elements and we will explore many of the various element types and learners will be taught to search for the type of elements that they would like to use.

Text - Canva has a wide range of text styles available. Learners will learn to insert various text types and change font, size, color, and spacing.

Backgrounds  - Learners will learn how to insert backgrounds and remove image backgrounds.  

In this class, learners will be able to design alongside the instructor to create their own graphic design.  The teacher will screen share a design that she is creating as learners use their creativity to create their own design.  

Parents will need to sign learners up for a free Canva account before class.  Learners will need to be logged into their Canva account prior to the start of class.  (The learners can fully participate in the class with the free account.  The teacher will demonstrate some of the things that can be accomplished with premium features).

Learners will need basic computer skills including an understanding of drag and drop and how to conduct this task on their device.  They will also need to know how to navigate multiple windows if they are using Canva on the same device that they are logged into the classroom.
