Class Experience

Are you interested in graphic design?

I'm so excited to share my knowledge and experience on what you need to know, from file type to programs to composition of work and everything in between! Here is an agenda for this class as it currently stands. This may adjust a little bit as I love to follow learners' leads so we can find where they are most passionate in the subject.

Week 1: We will talk about all of our favorite logos, advertisements, apparel, packaging, and more, looking at how graphic design shapes what we want to buy or consume.

Week 2: Let's talk about the basics. In order to create, we have to understand what makes up something that makes people want to look at it. We will take examples from week one and break down the different elements such as color, shape, light, and composition.

Week 3: We will use a random generator to get the names of fake businesses, art pieces, etc. and students will work on ideas for what they would make for that prompt.

Week 4: We will look at what programs can be used for graphic design and start learning how to use them. Students will pick one of their ideas to use for a project.

Week 5: We continue looking into programs for graphic design, using ideas from week three to demonstrate how things can go from an initial concept through the pipeline toward a finished product. Students will start working on a logo.

Week 6: We will finish up our designs and discuss how they would be used in the real world as well as what products would come from that business. We will begin the discussion of mockups.

Week 7: Students will choose what kind of mockups they would like to make, and we will go over the different ways they can do so.

Week 8: We will all show the class what we have been working on for the eight weeks, explaining why we made these decisions on the design.

I also offer sibling discounts! If you have multiple learners that would like to be in the same class, please message me and we can discuss.
