1) What will be taught? Grandparents are so special and would love to get a handwritten letter from their grandchild. In this class students will learn how to write a letter to their grandparent. Students will also have the option to do grandparent show and tell. Students will bring a picture of their grandparent to class and have the opportunity to share something special about their grandparent. Then, with parents approval and the help of a stamp the child can send the letter to their grandparent. 2) What topics will I cover? I will cover the basics of letter writing. Students will learn where to put the date, heading, body and signature in a letter. 3)How will I teach? I will model how to write a letter, then have students write their own letter to their grandparent. I will help with spelling, sentences, etc.. if needed. Lesson: First) Grandparent introduction and show and tell. Students will show off the picture of their grandparents if they have chosen to bring one to share. Next) Students will read a book about grandparents. Next) We will talk about what a letter is and what you might put into a letter when writing one. Next) I will model where to put the date, heading, body and signature in a letter. Next) I will model how to write a letter for students to see. Then) Students will write their own letter to their grandparent or grandparents.
Learning Goals
Students will improve on their knowledge about how to write a letter.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello Everyone!! I have a joke for you.....
What school do you greet people in?......Hi School!:):)
I LOVE teaching! I graduated from West Texas A&M University with my bachelor's degree in elementary education. I have also acquired a masters degree in reading instruction, and am passionate about teaching kids to read. When I graduated college I taught first grade for two years in North Carolina. I have also had the opportunity to teach English online with VIPKID for a couple years. This is an ESL company based in China. This has given me experience with making learning FUN in the online environment. I have lots of tricks up my sleeve. I really enjoy teaching creative writing, so if you are interested in getting your child engaged while writing, I would love to be your teacher:) I also have two precious Corgi's named Peach and Noodle that like to make appearances in my classes as well. Students always look forward to this. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me. Thanks so much and I hope to meet you all soon!
