Class Experience

US Grade 1 - 2
In this lesson, learners will have fun listening to a story about a town called And, where sentences go on and on and on and on and on. That is, until Comma comes to town and helps the citizens clean up their sentences! After the story, we will play an interactive comma game, where the students get to control the screen using their computer mouse or touchpad and move commas to the correct spots in sentences. Then we will make a comma craft. The students will need the Comma King paper. They will cut out commas to glue in the correct places.

This class is great for children who are just learning about commas, or to provide extra practice for learners who already know about commas. Let's start our comma learning!
Learning Goals

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi! I'm Teacher Shannon! I have taught 2nd grade for 24 years. I've taught both Gifted and Regular Education. I was a substitute teacher for 2 years working with Early Childhood students as well as older elementary students. My passion is reading! I love Children's Literature and I have even co-taught college level students on "What's New In Children's LIterature?" for the last 10 years. What drives me as a teacher is to have a fun, safe, interactive classroom while embracing lots of quality literature. I want kids to love reading as much as I do and to have fun learning! And maybe make a craft or two along the way!
