Class Experience

US Grade 1 - 3
In this lesson, learners will have fun listening to a story about a girl named Tillie who plays her tuba loudly, proudly, early, and late. Students will learn all about adverbs in this wacky tale about a girl who just can't put her tuba down! We will also play an interactive adverb game, where the students get to control the screen using their computer mouse or touch pad. Then we will make a Spin-an-Adverb Wheel, changing adjectives into adverbs. Finally, we will watch the short, fun video on adverbs by School House Rock.

This class is great for children who are just learning about adverbs, or to provide extra practice for learners who already know about adverbs. Let's start our adverb learning!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi! I'm Teacher Shannon! I have taught 2nd grade for 24 years. I've taught both Gifted and Regular Education. I was a substitute teacher for 2 years working with Early Childhood students as well as older elementary students. My passion is reading! I love Children's Literature and I have even co-taught college level students on "What's New In Children's LIterature?" for the last 10 years. What drives me as a teacher is to have a fun, safe, interactive classroom while embracing lots of quality literature. I want kids to love reading as much as I do and to have fun learning! And maybe make a craft or two along the way!
