US Grade Kindergarten - 2
In this lesson, learners will have fun listening to a story about a group of students who try to write stories using proper and common nouns. Suddenly, the evil Miss Spell enters and takes away all the proper and common nouns! Who can save the day? Maybe the superheroes Proper Pete and Common Cat! After the story, we will play an interactive noun game, where the students get to control the screen using a computer mouse, touch pad, or Ipad. Then we will make our craft. The students will use the attached printables to make a proper and common nouns flip flap book. They will cut out words to glue under the correct flaps. Students can even make their own words to keep adding to the flaps after class! This class is great for children who are just learning about proper and common nouns, or to provide extra practice for learners who already know about proper and common nouns. Let's start our noun learning!
Learning Goals
Students will improve their understanding of proper and common nouns. They will be able to share proper and common nouns from the story. Finally, students will be able to sort proper and commons nouns and correctly glue them to a flip flap book.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi! I'm Teacher Shannon! I have taught 2nd grade for 24 years. I've taught both Gifted and Regular Education. I was a substitute teacher for 2 years working with Early Childhood students as well as older elementary students. My passion is reading! I love Children's Literature and I have even co-taught college level students on "What's New In Children's LIterature?" for the last 10 years. What drives me as a teacher is to have a fun, safe, interactive classroom while embracing lots of quality literature. I want kids to love reading as much as I do and to have fun learning! And maybe make a craft or two along the way!
