In this lesson, learners will have fun listening to a book called "If You Were a Prefix" by Marcie Aboff. This book cleverly teaches a variety of prefixes, such as dis, un, re, tele, and co. We will also play an interactive prefix game, where the students get to control the screen with their computer mouse or touch pad. Then we will make a cute craft using the attached printables. The students will cut out prefix squares to partially glue or tape on the correct prefix windows of their prefix apartments! This class is great for children who are just learning about prefixes, or to provide extra practice for learners who already know about prefixes. Let's start our prefix learning!
Learning Goals
Students will improve their understanding of prefixes. They will also be able to listen to a story and be able to share prefixes from the story. Finally, students will be able to sort a variety of prefixes and glue or tape them to their prefix apartments.Other Details

Students will need the attached printables for their prefix apartments as well as scissors, glue, or tape. Crayons and markers are optional.

I was a substitute teacher for 2 years working with Early Childhood students as well as older elementary students. My passion is reading! I love Children's Literature and I have even co-taught college level students on "What's New In Children's LIterature?" for the last 10 years.
