Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten - 2
In this lesson, learners will have fun listening to "Home Run Verbs!" by Doris Fisher. The story follows a reporter named Buzz Star and his Pro-Ball kid reporter, Tom Porter. Both characters report on an exciting baseball game, while also highlighting baseball verbs. After the book, we will play an interactive verb tenses game, where the students get to control the screen using their computer mouse or touchpad. Then we will make a baseball-themed verb tenses craft.

This class is great for children just learning about verb tenses, or to provide extra practice for learners who already know about verb tenses. Now, let's play ball!
Learning Goals
Students will improve their understanding of verb tenses. They will listen to a story and share verbs and their tenses from the story. Students will practice sorting verb tenses during an interactive game and in their baseball verb tense craft.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi! I'm Teacher Shannon! I have taught 2nd grade for 24 years. I've taught both Gifted and Regular Education. I was a substitute teacher for 2 years working with Early Childhood students as well as older elementary students. My passion is reading! I love Children's Literature and I have even co-taught college level students on "What's New In Children's LIterature?" for the last 10 years. What drives me as a teacher is to have a fun, safe, interactive classroom while embracing lots of quality literature. I want kids to love reading as much as I do and to have fun learning! And maybe make a craft or two along the way!
