US Grade 1 - 2
In this lesson, learners will have fun listening to a story about a boy named Cindy who is going to show off her amazing machine at the Science Fair - The Totally Terrific Turbo-Charged Mega Deluxe Capitalization Machine! Will the machine work? We'll read the story to find out! After the story, the students will take turns playing an interactive capitalization game, where the students get to control the screen using their computer mouse or touch pad to find capital wrongs and rights. Then we will make a craft that highlights capital letters in names, days, months, and sentences. This class is great for children who are just learning about capitalization, or to provide extra practice for learners who already know about capitalization. Come learn with me!
Learning Goals
Students will improve their understanding of capitalization. They will also be able to listen to a story and be able to ask and answer questions from the story. Finally, students will be able to write a variety of words showing correct capitalization.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi! I'm Teacher Shannon! I have taught 2nd grade for 24 years. I've taught both Gifted and Regular Education. I was a substitute teacher for 2 years working with Early Childhood students as well as older elementary students. My passion is reading! I love Children's Literature and I have even co-taught college level students on "What's New In Children's LIterature?" for the last 10 years. What drives me as a teacher is to have a fun, safe, interactive classroom while embracing lots of quality literature. I want kids to love reading as much as I do and to have fun learning! And maybe make a craft or two along the way!
