US Grade 9 - 12
**NOTE: This is a FLEX course, with asynchronous learning through video instruction, student collaboration within the Outschool classroom, and homework with teacher feedback. A LIVE instruction version of this class is also available.** This eight-week course combines my popular one-time grammar classes into a singular class offering, so students can experience a comprehensive grammar course that includes weekly review, classroom collaboration, short homework assignments to reinforce each lesson, and teacher feedback! Students will be introduced to new concepts each week through video lessons, and will participate in activities and practice alongside the video with weekly handouts provided by the teacher. After each class, students will collaborate in the classroom with an editing activity to practice together the grammar rules they learned that week. Finally, students will be given a short homework assignment they will complete and turn in for teacher feedback. At the end of the course, students will practice putting all of the skills together through video and classroom activities to cement what they've learned throughout the course and apply it to their future writing and communications. The teacher will be available each week to give feedback on the classroom activities, homework, and answer student questions that may arise. Weekly Lessons: 1. Sentence Construction & Errors, including: Sentence Fragments, Run-on Sentences, and Confusing Sentences 2. Teacher expertise and credentials
I have been teaching English and writing to students from middle to graduate school for over 20 years. I've helped students write essays, research papers, SAT essays, college application essays, and even edited PhD dissertations. One of my greatest joys is to break down the (seemingly) daunting task of grammar usage and writing into small, manageable, and easy-to-understand steps. Everyone can write, and it's my job to show them how!
