Identifying Nouns and Verbs
Identifying nouns, creating sentences with verbs, basic glossing, and understanding adjectives and nouns.
Lesson 4
Mastering the 5 Parameters
Understanding the importance of the 5 parameters, incorporating adjectives, new glossing techniques, and fluency exercises.

Lesson 5
Possessive Structures and Vocabulary Expansion
Understanding possessive forms, translating exercises, responding effectively, and expanding vocabulary.
Lesson 6
Possessives and Signing Techniques
Exploring past and present tense in possessive expressions, differentiating 2D and 3D signing.

Tense Usage
Learning past and present tense, integrating negatives, and exploring future tense.
Lesson 8
Directional Verbs and Cultural Exploration
Understanding directional verbs, noun-verb pairs, self-pronouns, and exploring Deaf Culture & History.

Finish & Negative Sentences

This class is taught in English.
Homework Offered
Homework will serve as a crucial extension of classroom learning, reinforcing receptive and expressive skills, while also fostering a deeper understanding of Deaf Culture and history. Assignments, conducted on platforms such as Flip and Nearpod, not only contribute to individual skill development but also serve to prepare learners for upcoming class sessions.

Assessments Offered
Assessment in this ASL course will be conducted through quizzes, tests, homework assignments, and projects to measure learners' progress in receptive and expressive skills, vocabulary, grammar, and cultural understanding. Quizzes will be short and frequent, covering specific topics. Tests will be comprehensive and include written and practical components. Homework will reinforce learning outside of class. Projects will provide opportunities for deeper exploration of ASL concepts and cultural aspects. Assessment criteria will be clearly outlined, and feedback will be provided to guide learners' development. These assessments are crucial for monitoring progress and tailoring instruction to meet individual needs.
Grades Offered
Grades are available upon request, but the focus remains on students' pursuit of skill mastery.
Completion of a Beginners' ASL course or a fundamental grasp of ASL basics including the manual alphabet, numbers, sentence structure, and common everyday signs is required.

Throughout this 8-week course, learners will utilize the Flip, Nearpod, and Signing Savvy dictionary apps for completing homework assignments and practicing their ASL proficiency.

Flip, and Signing Savvy does not require the learners to set up an account.

We will be using the app Flip to complete homework and for vocabulary review. For Flip usage, I will issue a Flip badge code for the learner to have access.
