Class Experience
I will introduce three vocabulary words that will be in the chapter. Then students will listen to the next chapter in the story of the English children who live in Grammar Galaxy. We will then discuss the vocabulary introduced in the chapter and students will create sentences using the new words. I will read the letter from the English children telling the class their mission. Students will review the vocabulary words. Students will complete the "Advanced Guardians" page each week. Depending on your child, some class assignments may need to be finished for homework as below: Week 1: Finish your book report page and practice presenting it. Week 2: Choose five classic books that you'd like to read this year and record them on your page. Week 3: Finish writing your myth. Practice reading it aloud. Week 4: Finish reading the fables. Week 5: Finish your autobiography sentences. Week 6: None Week 7: Watch a movie and identify the parts of the plot. Week 8: Review all of the vocabulary words. Week 9: Review your mission manual. Week 10: Create a homophone memory matching game. Week 11: Finish the acronyms word search. Week 12: None Week 13: Finish writing the parts of speech for each word. Week 14: Review all of the vocabulary words. Week 15: Review your mission manual.
Students will need to purchase the Mission Manual as an ebook. It costs $25 and can be used for both Protostar courses. It can also be shared by one family. Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Vocabulary words and language arts skills from previous classes will be reviewed at the beginning of each mission. A multiple choice unit assessment will also be given at the end of each unit.
1 hour 40 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
