Class Experience
The purpose of this class is to explain the difference between antonyms and synonyms. I will explain that antonyms are opposite words and synonyms are similar words. It is important that students understand and remember the basic definitions of these grammar terms. Then I will introduce many examples of antonyms such as good/bad, hot/cold, tall/short and encourage students to think of more on their own. We will then practice using these in sentences. The second part of the class will focus on synonyms and we will use additional short games to understand these similar words. Some example of synonyms include "good, great, wonderful, awesome and terrific". When discussing synonyms I emphasize the importance of using different words in our writing and speech, to make it more interesting and as specific as possible. I have a maximum of 4 children in each section, so every child has plenty of opportunities to participate. This is a stand alone class and no previous knowledge is necessary, but to be successful, each child should be reading at a grade appropriate level. All of my classes are fun and causal. I aim to make learning grammar easy and entertaining.
Learning Goals
