HANDOUTS WILL BE PROVIDED UPON ENROLLING in the class.  The handouts included for this class will reinforce the objectives. PLEASE HAVE THEM PRINTED OUT BEFORE CLASS.  THANKS!  (I have put this in all caps to draw attention to it because usually, only half the class have their papers ready.) When printing, use the option "fit to page" and then it won't be too big.

Note:  This class will need to have a minimum of three students enrolled or it will be canceled. Students may be transferred ONLY if the request is made up to 24 hours before class begins.  Your child may want to quit a little early and that is fine.  I have had MANY MANY 5-year-olds and some 4 who sat through the whole class without any problem. This age does best when the parent is sitting with them.   Many parents have mentioned in feedback that they were amazed that their child was able to sit so long and very few have said it was a little too long.  Your child may be ready to quit once the hike is over at about 10 minutes before class is over. This is perfectly fine if they choose to do so.  
 Because many parents do not sign up until the day of the class, I don't know if it will be canceled or not until a few hours before.  I am sorry for any inconvenience this may cause with your schedule.  The best thing to do if you want this class is to go ahead and enroll so I will have a count of at least 3 the day before.

Description:  This class will help your child learn about common nouns and verbs.  I will show how every sentence must have a noun and a verb.  We will look at many different sentences while exploring the rainforest.  We will review nouns and verbs before starting our trek.  I use many interactive visuals for the children to learn what I am teaching.  They will come away from the class being excited about learning grammar.  Your child will begin to notice the nouns and verbs in their own world all around them.  At the conclusion of the class, we will write creatively while using the nouns and verbs from the rainforest. We will work together to write a class poem.  I will provide several fun activities outside of class that you are welcome to do with them. There is no background knowledge needed.  This is beginning grammar that will give them a good foundation.  

Subjects covered in this class:  science, grammar, writing, geography.

Although the class is 55 minutes long, children do not seem to have a hard time staying focused.  Because we do several different things, they can stay focused longer.  It takes the full 55 minutes to do due to the writing at the end.
