US Grade Pre-Kindergarten
Introduction (10 minutes) We will start class with a fun introduction song "ABC" song. Next, I'll hold up random letters and ask, "What letter is this?" "Is the letter a big letter or a small letter?" "What sound does this letter make?" To reinforce the alphabet and determine each student's prior knowledge of the topic, we will play an interactive letter recognition matching game. Children will match uppercase letter to uppercase letter by choosing the letter from the three options. Teacher modeling (10 minutes) Next, we'll begin our lesson. I will read the book 'Chicka Chicka Boom Boom' by Bill Martin to begin. After that, we'll sing and dance to the "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom" song. As they are singing I will hold up the letters and students will recite the letters aloud. Making it a great interactive lesson. Guided Practice (10 minutes) Then we will play an "Alphabet Bingo" game. I will say the letters and students will locate and place the correct upper or lower case letter in the box onto their bingo cards. Independent Practice ( 5 minutes) Next, children will color the letters in their names on the coconut tree. Finally, they will recite the letters in their name by holding up the coconut tree to display the completed work.
Learning Goals
Students will be able to recognize both upper- and lowercase letters and practice to further develop their listening skills.
Students will also recognize letters in words and understand that they work together to produce unique sounds and meanings.

Supply List
~ Copy of Alphabet Bingo activity sheets and a copy of the coconut letter tree *will be provided before class starts* ~ Cardstock paper (to make the bingo card more durable). Different cardstock colors are optional, but would work best for your child to distinguish between the alphabet letters and the bingo cards. ~ Small envelopes (to place alphabet letters inside, so they won't lose the letters 😀) ~ Scissors (parents will need to cut out the alphabet letters prior to class starting) ~ Crayons
