Has your child mastered many of the Kindergarten pre-primer and primer words? Are they ready to challenge themselves and learn some Grade 1 sight words? I am a certified elementary school teacher and I have lots of expertise teaching children how to read. Sight words are the words that appear most frequently in our reading and writing. They are often words that are difficult to sound out and therefore simply need to be memorized. By easily recognizing these words, young readers are much more likely to approach a text with confidence. In this class, we will use interactive songs, chants, flashcards, and games to learn some new Grade 1 sight words. This class is for readers who have mastered the pre-primer and primer sight words. Parents should be nearby to help with any technology issues but do not need to sit with their child. However, parents are welcome to sit off camera with their child if they wish or if their child needs extra support. Hope to see you in the class!
