US Grade 8
This course covers the basic content of eighth grade math and is geared toward typical math students or those who need a little extra help or review. Contact me anytime to discuss your student's specific needs. This self-paced course features three sessions per week, following the below format: Session 1 Core Lesson (Recommended duration: 30+ minutes) During the Core Lesson, students will start with a set of teacher examples, where students watch and follow along with the teacher's video instruction. This is followed by independent practice for the remainder of the session. Session 2 Problem Solving (Recommended duration: 30+ minutes) The Problem Solving session continues the work from the previous session. Students will continue to practice the skill at either a basic or advanced level, depending upon their performance over the course of the week. Session 3 Jeopardy (Recommended duration: 30+ minutes) The Jeopardy session caps off the week by engaging students in a cumulative math review that supports retention of the skills learned in this course. Help When a student needs help, resources are available. The student may view instructions and videos that are attached to each lesson, or they may message the teacher. The teacher will provide either a written or video response to assist with the problem. Feedback The teacher will check in on the student's progress for the lesson on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. For any completed work, the teacher will send feedback regarding the student's performance and provide goals for staying on track. Breaks There will be breaks for the full weeks of New Year's Day, Independence Day (US), Thanksgiving (US), and Christmas. During these breaks, students may choose to pause their work. Teacher communication and feedback will not be sent during breaks.
