Class Experience
US Grade 7
This class will cover all the topics in grade 7 maths and will be customized as per student's needs. Topics can be learned in the desired order. I teach students at a pace that suits them and, also, finish the syllabus on time. Course Overview: This course builds on foundational math skills and introduces more complex concepts, preparing students for advanced mathematics in higher grades. Emphasis is placed on critical thinking, problem-solving, and applying mathematical concepts to real-world scenarios. Course Objectives: -Develop a thorough understanding of proportional relationships and algebraic expressions. -Explore more advanced geometric concepts and spatial reasoning. -Analyze and interpret data using statistical methods. -Apply problem-solving strategies to real-world contexts. Units of Study: 1. Ratios and Proportional Relationships Ratios and Rates- Understanding and solving problems involving ratios and rates Proportional Relationships- Identifying and using proportional relationships in real-life contexts -Solving problems involving proportions and scale factors Percentages- Calculating percentages, including percentage increase and decrease 2. Algebraic Expressions and Equations Expressions- Writing, simplifying, and evaluating algebraic expressions Equations- Solving one-step and two-step equations -Understanding and applying properties of equality Inequalities- Solving and graphing simple inequalities on a number line 3. Geometry Geometric Figures and Properties- Analyzing properties of two-dimensional and three-dimensional shapes -Understanding concepts such as congruence and similarity Area, Surface Area, and Volume- Calculating area of various shapes, surface area, and volume of geometric solids Angle Relationships- Understanding and applying the properties of angles, including complementary, supplementary, and vertical angles 4. Data and Probability Data Representation- Creating and interpreting various forms of data representation, including histograms, box plots, and scatter plots Measures of Central Tendency- Calculating and interpreting mean, median, mode, and range Probability- Understanding basic probability concepts and calculating the probability of simple events 5. Problem Solving and Applications Real-World Problems- Applying mathematical concepts to solve practical problems in everyday situations Critical Thinking- Developing strategies for logical reasoning and effective problem-solving Project-Based Learning- Engaging in projects that integrate multiple math concepts and demonstrate real-world applications
Learning Goals
Students will be able to solve problems involving ratios and rates by setting up and solving proportional relationships, demonstrating an understanding of how these concepts apply to real-world scenarios.
Students will be able to simplify and evaluate algebraic expressions by applying the order of operations and using properties of arithmetic operations.
