*I strongly encourage students to obtain the Spectrum Math 5 Workbook prior to enrolling in this course. This workbook serves as the foundation for our lessons, which are thoughtfully paced and supported by me, your certified math teacher, to help ensure mastery of the material. If you need the purchase link, feel free to send me a message! Grade 5 focuses on three key advancements from previous years: (1) developing fluency with addition and subtraction of fractions, and developing understanding of multiplication and division of fractions in certain cases; (2) integrating decimal fractions into the place value system and developing fluency with operations with whole numbers and decimals to hundredths; and (3) developing understanding of volume (fishtanklearning.com)

20 Lessons
over 20 WeeksLesson 1:
Understanding Place Value
Students will explore the concept of place value to understand how digits represent different values depending on their position within a number. 13 mins of video lessons
Lesson 2:
Comparing Whole Numbers
Students will learn to compare and order whole numbers using greater than, less than, and equal to symbols. Lesson 3:
Rounding
Students will practice rounding whole numbers to the nearest ten, hundred, or other specified place value to simplify calculations and estimates. 10 mins of video lessons
Lesson 4:
Multiplication
Students will review multiplication strategies and practice solving multi-digit multiplication problems efficiently. 25 mins of video lessons

External resources will be used to enhance learning. Some external resources used will require student accounts which will be activated and assigned by the teacher at no additional cost to you. The teacher will assign generic (no personal identifiers) username/passwords for each student. The student will only have access to their generic accounts while enrolled in my course. All external resources have been vetted and approved to be appropriate for learning. External resources are subject to change but the current external resources are: Google Applications.
